Design Review
Our review services cover all stages of design: Schematic, Design Development, Plan Check, Permit Issuance, Issued for Construction, Bulletins and Supplementary Instructions. We help architects and engineers with input so their construction documents effectively communicate the project’s important building standards to Contractors.
We cover all standard disciplines of design as they relate to our assignment: Architectural, Civil, Landscape, Interiors, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. Our analysis of project specific requirements includes written observations, recommendations and electronic marked up drawings. We respond to information requests to discuss compliance requirements, options, and alternatives and attend all design team meetings to ensure design coordination. .
Construction Administration
Our technical experience and practical construction knowledge give projects the edge so they can move forward and meet the design professional’s obligations for construction administration. From pre-construction meetings to final acceptance of construction, we are there throughout the project to answer questions, solve problems and explore alternatives. We periodically observe construction throughout its stages to help contractors avoid common mistakes and successfully meet compliance goals at completion.
Submittal Review: We review shop drawings, product data, equipment specifications, samples, and other data from suppliers and subcontractors. Our reviews include practical comments for revisions and substitutions with the end in mind of compliant construction.
Construction Observation: We perform site visits at various stages of construction with experienced and qualified professionals to give our Client a greater degree of assurance that the completed work will conform to the project’s compliance requirements. Our compliance evaluations consider the requirements and related conventional industry tolerances for construction and manufacturing. We provide informal reports noting our concerns and translating code requirements to everyday language that the Contractor can reference with ease.
Approval Processing: We answer questions, attend meetings, provide reports, and explain compliance obligations to financial institutions and government agencies. Upon successful completion of our services, we provide reports that attest to the general conformance of the design and completed construction with the applicable compliance requirements related to the professional services we provide.
We partner with our Client’s development and construction teams to bring code compliance to the important design and construction standards that apply to their projects. We interpret codes, standards, and regulations with the intended benefit in mind. Our years of code writing, enforcement and litigation experience, enable us to properly navigate through ambiguous requirements and apply them to real world situations with clients. Our goal is to meet all of the Client’s project needs, including code compliance, from a practical and cost-effective perspective.
Accessibility Compliance
Ensuring persons with disabilities can use sites, buildings, and facilities is a fundamental civil right protected by national, state, and local laws, codes, standards, and regulations. Our firm has unique expertise to help property owners, real estate developers, and members of the architecture, engineering, and construction industry meet these compliance obligations. We help decipher the most complex of these requirements from multiple sources, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Housing Act (FHA), state and local building codes, and the public funding requirements of government agencies. Our ADA services include existing site evaluations, construction design review and administration, and litigation consulting.
Litigation Consulting
McCormick & Associates offers litigation consulting services to attorneys on complex cases involving the design and construction of buildings and facilities. We are experienced in the proper application, interpretation and enforcement of building codes, zoning standards and construction practices. Services are provided by our most senior staff, who are well credentialed and experienced in the assignments accepted.
