DAY 3: Best Practices for Accessible Buildings (5.5 Contact Hours)
June 8, 2016 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Learn about some of the most common design and construction mistakes related to accessibility standards. Topics include accessible means of egress, signage, restrooms, parking and special exceptions for existing buildings. To aid those taking the June CASp exam, the afternoon session will focus on the accessibility standards for a newly constructed hotel. Attendees will walk through the scoping and technical requirements from site arrival points throughout the interior of guest rooms and common areas features. This case study will bring all of the commercial provisions together in a real example. Prior attendance at the Commercial Accessibility-ADA & CBC seminar is highly recommended.
These classes are designed to help architects, engineers, plan reviewers and building inspectors better understand the design and construction requirements of accessible buildings while meeting their continuing education requirements. Candidates for the Certified Access Specialist exam will find this training invaluable to their own test preparation. Instructor is Tim McCormick, P.E., C.B.O., CASp, President of McCormick & Associates, a building code and accessibility consulting firm. Training is interactive and job skill focused.
All classes include certificates of attendance, special handouts, refreshments and lunch. Free parking is provided each day in the adjacent City of Anaheim parking garage. Participants may attend one or more class as desired. All registration is done online with payment by credit card. Cost is $200.00 per class.
